Since EB4 was released in September 08, I’ve been talking to Reid Young (of Starmen.net and Fangamer chunk fame) about creating an EB Saga DVD with the current four chapters, along with special features and the other nuts and bolts. In all, it’s going to include commentary on all four episodes, deleted scenes/outtakes, making of chapters 1 - 3 (the same documentary as on the original 2007 promo EB Saga DVD), a 40+ minute documentary about chapter 4, and hopefully subtitles.
I’m sure many of you will find out as I advance with this journal, that EB5 is going to cost a fair chunk of cash to make. In order for it to look as good as possible, we’ll need money; I’ll be frank and say for the love of hecking gosh, please buy the EB Saga DVD when it comes out. It’s only going to be $19 for all that DVD action, and we’re using the profits to make EB5!
I’ve spent the last few days doing the bulk work of the video work for the DVD, we have a bunch of small adjustments to make now.
I finished the EB4 documentary, which includes interviews with UbseyMovies & Fangamer (Reidman and Plo), a skit with Reid, Plo and myself, plus other silly goof ball stuff.
I’m piecing together the “Deleted Scenes & Outtakes” clips, which I’m hoping people will be happy with. But since we use most of what we shoot, there isn’t much special deleted material. I actually found myself putting together a lame exposition scene of Ness showing he has the “keys to the old shack.” Halfway through I asked myself “Why am I putting this on the DVD? No one wants to see Ness (literally) enter the frame, jingle his keys, and walk away.”

Needless to say, there isn’t more than two and a half minutes of deleted stuff.
There is however, a few extended scenes that are kind of silly. One of them is of us trying to put out the gasoline fire we started for the meteor shot in EB2. We were ill prepared, figuring a fire extinguisher was by no means necessary when you have an open flame surrounded by dead grass and wood.

I was working on the Special Features menu the other night, and for fun started adding menus to the extra movies that are included on the DVD.
I put together something for “Elliot Kane the Vampire Hunter,” it looks enjoyably laughable. (Warning kiddos! Violence and strong language)
For kicks I added a slideshow of our production photos during filming, with some of the original music from the movie.
I’ve been sitting in the library at school as I wrote this. I’m next to a man who’s been sleeping for about an hour and a half, waking up periodically to cough or change the music on his iPod.
I’ve been holding in a bit of gas today; I don’t want to be rude and relieve myself in my classes or the library, I also have no idea how loud it’s going to be.
Every few minutes I feel gas building up more and more, near the edge of overflowing. I’m now faced with a dilemma, to go ahead and let it rip as quietly as possible, running the risk of putting my sleeping neighbor in an uncomfortable position, or hold it in resulting in horrific gas pains tonight.
…Wish me luck friends.
Good stuff — I was actually just recently trying to figure out how I could help out the production of the movies as means by donation. Consider a DVD bought already
Also, just a suggestion, perhaps you guys should hotlink ebsaga.com from the Ubsey Movies YouTube page to get more traffic?
I saw the name of this update and immedietly wondered if you guys were going to do anything special for the main menu of the DVD, like the real opening to EarthBound with a special twist on it like the gas station scene with a photo of you guys screaming and running away from a gas station.
